ABOUT THE ARTIST

Almost 50 years of painting

My name is Viktor Stognut. I paint only from life: I take my easel and paints and go where the future painting is waiting — to the mountains, to a river or a lake. Flowers and still lifes I paint in the studio, from a living arrangement.

My paintings are not an attempt to copy nature, but my feeling of the moment: the light, colour, air and silence of a particular place.

More about the artist

What makes these paintings special

  • Only from life

No photographs or digital images. The easel stands right in the middle of nature, and the canvas holds exactly what the artist sees.

  • Textured brushwork

Come closer and you will see the movement of the brush and the layers of paint. Step back and the strokes turn into light, air and mood.

  • One original

No copies, prints or repeats. Each painting exists as a single original and will have only one owner.

One painting. One moment. One owner.

Every work is painted by hand from life — outdoors or in the studio. The light changes, the flowers fade — and that moment will never come again. That is why the paintings are never repeated either: no copies, prints or reproductions.
